Hotel
Based packages
Many
people are fixed on the idea of staying on a yacht while visiting
the Galapagos Islands but hotel based packages are becoming
more popular. Sleeping on land and visiting the places of
interest during the day has its advantages; It is generally
cheaper, there is more flexibility on dates as there are more
spaces avaliable and you can take advantage of other hotel
based facilities. Below are some of the hotels we work with,
please feel free to browse and tell us if you like the idea
- we can then slot this into your schedule.

Galapagos
General Information
The
volcanic archipelago called the Galapagos is a paradise on
earth. Its range of animal life offers a variety of amazing
and endemic species. Many of the animals do not even fear
the people visiting the Islands, which offers excellent opportunities
for getting close to them. There are very few spots on earth
where you can observe and photograph animals in the wild so
well and so close! The islands are also very famous for helping
Charles Darwin develop his Theory of Evolution.
The
Galapagos archipelago belongs to the country of Ecuador and
is located around 1000 km off the west coast of South America
directly on the Equator. They include 13 islands of over 5
square km in area, 6 smaller islands (1-5 sq. km) as well
as more as 40 other islands. The biggest island is "Isabela"
with a surface of 4710 sq. km. The two youngest islands of
Fernandina and Isabela are the most active volcanoes as they
are situated above a volcanic hot spot with rock stratum not
older than 700.000 years. The oldest minerals are to be found
on Española in the southwest. They are over 3,3 million
years old.

Climate:
There are two climatic seasons on the Galapagos. From January
to June (in which short heavy rain showers can occur) hot
air temperatures rule (above 30 degrees C). In the dry season
from July to December the temperatures are a little lower.
The water temperatures varies between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Activities
and Events: Are shown in our calender, please click
here.
Entry
requirements: Always check with your local embassy
or consulate to determine whether or not you need a VISA for
Ecuador. Make sure your passport is in order before you travel
and it is a good idea to take photocopies of all important
documents (passports, travel insurance, credit cards etc.)
and keep them in a safe place, not with your originals.
To
enter Ecuador only a valid passport is required. No visas
are required for U.S., Canadian, and most European citizens
unless you plan to stay more than ninety days (but please
check for any last minute changes to this and that our information
is up to date). Visitors must have a current passport valid
for more than three months, adequate funds to support themselves
and a return ticket.
Galapagos
Islands National Park entrance fees:
The Galapagos Islands feature an amazing diversity of indigenous
animals, many endemic, which are unusually tame due to lack
of predation and many years of protection. This protection
must continue to preserve the uniqueness of Galapagos for
future generations.
Upon
arrival to the islands, a park officer will collect a National
Park fee of $100 US. (Cash only, no traveller’s checks.)
Everybody must pay this park entrance fee of $100.00. Do not
lose your park fee receipt as the boat captains need to record
it. A 50% reduction on the national park fee is available
to children under 12.
The
entrance fee helps to fund the maintenance of the parks and
other national projects.
The park entrance fee is distributed as follows: 40% Galapagos
National Park; 20% Galapagos Municipalities; 10% Galapagos
Province Government; 10% Galapagos National Institute (INGALA);
5% Galapagos Marine Reserve; 5% Galapagos Province Inspection
and Quarantine System; 5% INEFAN (National Park Service);
5% National Army.
Please
note. Surcharges on fuel could be in place when you book.
