Elqui Valley Vacation - Chile

The Elqui Valley is renouned for its clear skies making it perfect for stargazing at some of the many observatories, plus the climate is ideally suited to the growing of Pisco grapes and is therefore the center of Pisco production in Chile.

DAY 1 - Arrive Santiago and fly to La Serena.

La Serena is an attractive beach resort which is an absolute must-see for any vacationer making their way to the Elqui Valley. After an airport pick up, we will take you on a city tour of La Serena and Coquimbo, stopping off for lunch at a local restaurant where you can sample authentic cuisine. After lunch, the tour to the Elqui Valley will begin, after which we will check into a hotel in the tranquil town of Vicuña, for example the Hotel Halley or similar. Before dinner, you will enjoy a drive up into the Andes will provide unparalleled views from the Mamalluca Observatory. We will then return to Vicuña for dinner and an overnight rest.

DAY 2 - Visiting Pisco Distilleries and Stargazing.

Today we will visit the oldest Pisco distillery in Chile, the ¨Pisquera Artesanal Los Nichos¨ where the original way of making Pisco has been preserved. Along the route to our hotel we will stop for lunch and then make our way to the unique Elqui Domos hotel. This ´astro-hotel´ offers guests dome-shaped rooms with removable ceilings and private telescopes. Dinner will be served in the charming village of Pisco Elqui, after which we will return to Elqui Domos for a night of stargazing.

DAY 3 - Through the valley to La Serena.

After breakfast at the Elqui Domos hotel, we will make our way to the Pacific Coast, stopping along the way to visit the areas where Chilean wine and Pisco´s raw materials are grown. For lunch we will stop at a restaurant in Vicuña and then make our way to a hotel in La Serena, the Canto del Agua Hotel for example, where we will spend the night.

DAY 4 - Leave La Serena.

After breakfast today your tour ends. This means you will either be taken back to La Serena airport for you flight home, or maybe to continue via Santiago to another destination in Chile.
