Lake Villarica - Volcanoes and Hot Springs

Day 1: Temuco – Pucon

When you arrive in Temuco, you will be greeted by your guide who will escort you to Lake Villarrica in Pucon. Along the way, you will take a short stop in the city of Villarrica which was one of the first areas where the Spanish settled in Chile and will give you an interesting impression of the era. A scenic drive along the lake of Villarrica will take us to the base of the commanding and impressive Villarrica Volcano, which is still active today. We will be able to view the volcanic caves which were formed as a result of the lava cutting into the rock, forming deep caverns. After our volcano trip, we continue to the welcoming and homely town of Pucon which offers visitors a wide array of outdoor activities. We will spend the night in the Malalhue Hotel or similar.

Day 2: Lago Caburgua and Hot Springs

After a delicious breakfast, we will make our way to Lake Caburgua, a beautiful mountain lake with a pristine white beach, where you will be able to view active volcanoes. After this, we will move onto the remarkable waterfalls Ojos del Caburga, which developed as a result of underground rivers and display an impressive color on bright days. It is a wonderful area to take a short picnic and a dip in the cool waters before heading out to the Liucura River valley. The area is famous for its thermal waters and hot springs, one of which we will be visiting before returning to Pucon in the afternoon where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Huerquehue National Park

Wake up and enjoy a hearty breakfast before hiking in one of the surrounding national parks in Huerquehue. The hike takes you up a gradually ascending trail through the different tiers of the Valdivian rainforest. This half-day hike will take you up to the incredible amphitheater of a thousand Araucaria trees which sit at an amazing 1,200meters above sea level. At this height, one can view three crystal clear lakes where you can rest, take a picnic and a dip in the picturesque lakes before taking a scenic drive back to the hotel in Pucon or nearby.

Day 4: Pucon – Temuco

Enjoy your last breakfast in this beautiful region before making your way back to the airport of Temuco where you will board your connecting flight or join one of our other tours around Chile, Argentina or Peru.
