Guatemala has a sub-tropical climate which varies greatly according to the altitude. In the highlands (over 1000m) the days are mild and sunny with cool nights. The rainy season is from May to November. The coasts are hot, wet and humid year round whilst the lowland jungle area of the Peten has a dry season from November to May.
