The itinerary that was made for us to include all of the areas that we wanted to visit was excellent, you did a great job in fitting a lot into a 3 week period....... There was no one stand out highlight of our trip as we enjoyed every place we visited and they were all individually exciting and quite different. If we had to pick one it would be a toss up between Easter Island and Machu Picchu. Thank you for all of the organization that went into our trip, we did not have to worry about any aspect other than to turn up at the allotted time and someone would look after every detail for us.
Many Thanks
The lovely and historic Monasterio Hotel has been repeatedly voted "Best Hotel in South America" for example by Conde Nast Traveler Awards amongst other travel organizations. The hotel is built in a former monastery, has been beautifully restored, and is located in the heart of Cusco on a very attractive plaza just three blocks from the main square. The building was originally constructed in 1592 but was then converted into a hotel in the year 1995 and today stands as a national historic landmark and is an extremely famous hotel.
This one-of-a-kind hotel is built on Inca stone foundations and has a beautiful chapel filled with elaborate gold ornaments. It combines the ambience of the original colonial monastery with the opulence, elegance, and luxury that you would expect in a five star hotel.
Within the rooms and common areas modern and colonial Spanish styles have been combined. Many of the rooms have nice views of the city or the tiled rooftops of Cusco. The hotel has 127 rooms which border the four interior courtyards, which come in a range of sizes and shapes due to the building’s age. In any case all rooms are well decorated and have cable TV, a mini-bar and en-suite bathroom, plus some are ‘oxygen-enriched’ at an extra cost. There is a very atmospheric bar and a first class restaurant run by a French chef.
Room equipment:
Telephone (room and bathroom), heating, well stocked mini-bar, safe, cable TV, fire alarms, hairdryer, and high quality furniture.
The original architecture and structural design of the Hotel Monasterio has not been changed very much, and as such the rooms do reflect their original use as a home for Jesuit monks. There are no two rooms that are identical and they all vary in size and layout.
The Hotel Monasterio can help to reduce the effects of altitude by piping an oxygen supplement into most of the rooms, please ask us for details.
