Machu Picchu 4 Days / 3 Nights

Day 1 - Fly to Cusco and Cusco City Tour

During this short but very comprehensive tour of some of the main highlights of Peru you will be transfered to Lima airport for your short flight to Cuzco.  Upon arrival in Cuzco we will meet you and you will be transferred to your chosen hotel.  For some travellers this could be the boutique hotel Casa San Blas or similar and for luxury travellers the fabulous Monasterio Hotel, subject to space of course.

In the afternoon you will enjoy a Cusco city tour visiting the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuamán, the Cuzco Cathedral and the most important temple of the Inca Empire, the Coricancha - Inca Temple of the Sun.

Day 2 - Sacred Valley of the Inca's Tour

After breakfast we will collect you from your hotel for a full day tour of the Sacred Valley. You will be visiting the Inca ruins of Pisac (if on a private tour) and Ollayantambo. You will also visit the market at Pisac which a great place to buy souvenirs. You will have an English speaking guide all day and an ample buffet lunch in Yucay included with great views of the Sacred Valley. You will then spend the night down in the valley to take advantage of a change of scene, more oxygen (as you are 800 meters lower), and a shorter journey tomorrow on the train to Machu Picchu.

We recommend these 2 hotels but there are many more that we use in all price ranges. Casa Andina PC Valley and Sol y Luna are our favorites.

Day 3 - Machu Picchu one of the 7 Wonders of the World

Today you will have an fairly early start to catch your chosen train to Machu Picchu which will be either the Vistadome or luxury Hiram Bingham service. The advantage you have is that you will have stayed in the valley overnight and therefore won´t have to get up so early to get your train from Ollantaytambo station. A taxi or mototaxi will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the station.

After arriving in Aguas Calientes and your bus transfer to the Machu Picchu site you will enjoy a private tour with a qualified English speaking guide. Take the rest of the day as free time to enjoy this incredible site.  In the late afternoon you will have two choices; if you are on the 4 day vacation you will return to Cusco on the later afternoon train and we will transfer you to your hotel in Cusco, but if you elect to stay the night and revisit Machu Picchu the next day we can offer you a range of hotels in Aguas Calientes, the town that nestles in the valley below Machu Picchu. 

For mid range travellers we recommend the Inti Inn, Machu Picchu Inn, or similar.  For luxury travellers we recommend the Pueblo Hotel or the Sumaq Hotel, both excellent high end hotels down in the village. If you prefer to stay right at the gate of Machu Picchu you could choose the Sanctuary Lodge as its location cannot be beaten. There are also many economic options meaning a trip can be designed to suit all budgets.

Day 4 (or day 5 if extending your stay at Machu Picchu) - Free morning Cusco and then you will fly to Lima.

Enjoy a free morning in Cusco before your transfer to Cusco airport for the return flight to Lima. Although due to time constraints you may have chosen this short Peru tour just talk to us here in Cusco if you have more time so we can add or modify things to suit your needs.
