The itinerary that was made for us to include all of the areas that we wanted to visit was excellent, you did a great job in fitting a lot into a 3 week period....... There was no one stand out highlight of our trip as we enjoyed every place we visited and they were all individually exciting and quite different. If we had to pick one it would be a toss up between Easter Island and Machu Picchu. Thank you for all of the organization that went into our trip, we did not have to worry about any aspect other than to turn up at the allotted time and someone would look after every detail for us.
Many Thanks
Hi, I want you to know that we LOVED our trip and all you did for us!!! The hotels were great, especially the Casa Andina Private Collections. The level of service was excellent; drivers were always on time, guides also on time and very informative and personable. Information provided was excellent, especially Marcos in Machu Picchu (but all were great!). Accomodations were great; transport was great. I thought it was a good value for the cost and have already recommended your company to 4 friends who are hoping to go to Peru soon, so hopefully you will hear from them.
In Cuzco, the Inka Grill is by far the best restaurant; we ate there three times! The El Alberge in Ollantaytambo was rather unique and quite charming. I loved watching all the people board their trains to and from Maccu Picchu and enjoyed no TV for a night. But the Andina Luxury in Agua Calientes was the best, with the Urubamba River rushing by - what a sight and sounds!! We slept with the windows and curtains open just to enjoy it more!
Thank you very much for a wonderful trip!! If you need recommendations, please consider me - I think you are wonderful and did a great job!
Respectfully,
Catherine and Maissah Amin, Libertyville, IL, USA, January 2012
We just got back from our trip and I wanted to thank you for all your advice and work. The trip went perfectly and we had a great time. I know that we had a limited time and covered a lot of ground. Your assistance made it possible for us to do everything we wanted.
The hotels were excellent (though I did not think Hatuchay was up to the level of the other hotels). The guides and other services were outstanding without exception.
Again, thanks.
The Lowensteins, New York, USA, January 2012
Hi Jo,
Just a quick note to let you know that we returned from our South America trip a couple of days ago and enjoyed every minute of it.
Thank you for helping us put together such an amazing itinerary. The mind-boggling site and history of Machu Picchu, the "you have to see it to believe it" natural wonder of the Iguacu falls, and finally, the dynamic and beautifully located city of Rio offered a great variety and balance of some of the wonders of South America. Thank you also for arranging the Astoria Palace Hotel in Rio for us - we ended up with a room on the 13th floor and an unbelievable view of Copacabana Beach - a great way to end our vacation.
All the tours were well organized, the guides were helpful and friendly, and they always showed up where and when they were supposed to. Again, THANK YOU for helping making it all possible. The memories of this trip will last a lifetime.
Some day (hopefully soon!), we'd like to return to see Chile and take a cruise to Cape Horn and Antarctica. If you can help us with that, we'd certainly like to work with you again.
Best,
Monika and Steve, California, USA, January 2012
Hi Sam,
We are back from Peru and I wanted to let you know we were very happy with all the tours.
We were particularly impressed with your people in Lima. Nilton is a terrific guide and runs a top-notch service. He showed us the many facets of Lima, and we came away with a true appreciation of the diversity and uniqueness of the city. We had a wonderful time with him and fell in love with LIma.
Thanks & Kind Regards,
Ellen Berger, New York, USA, January 2012
Dear all at ETLA,
We had an unbelievable trip thanks to your team! Sam is wonderful! Always got back to us right away! We would use Escaped to Latin America again when we plan to go to Argentina :)
Thanks,
Sara Diament, Canada, January 2012
We did have a fantastic time.
The food was some of the best we ever had the pleasure of eating. Highly recommend restaurants in Cusco; 1) Chicha - absolutely fantastic - 5 stars and; 2) Limo in Cusco - fantastic 4-1/2 stars.
I have attached 2 pictures. Bill and Angie at Machu Picchu and Bill and Washington on the peak of Huayna Picchu. The highlight for me was my climbing Huayna Picchu with the guide Washington. He is excellent. The highlight for my wife was Machu Picchu but tied for 2nd was the train ride, Cusco, Lima, plus just about everything in Peru. We had a good time and thank all your team, especially the following; The lady who met us the night we arrived and she also took us to the airport Monday morning. Julio for the tour of historic Lima. Hans in Cusco. Washington at Machu Picchu.
The Dillons, Houston, USA, January 2012
Hi Steve,
My daughter and I, indeed, had a fantastic trip!
I don't know if I can answer all your specific questions, but accommodations, the level of service, the guides in all our stops and transportations were excellent. People in general are very kind and laid back. We felt very taken care of from the time we landed in Lima till the time we left. I found your site just by browsing the Internet. We didn't have much time in advance to prepare for the trip. I compared your itinerary and your price with one more travel agency. Yours was less expensive and fitted our interests better.
Thank you very much and I am attaching couple of photos!
Lilia Feinberg, New York, USA, December 2011
Guides in Cusco / Sacred Valley were especially knowledgeable and shared insight to places visited. Folks providing transfers were on time and easily visible to find. Felt safe in their hands. My purpose for going to Peru was to see Machu Picchu and it was amazing. Perfect weather helped too. The guides and hotels all made good recommendations for restaurants when I asked. Hotels were close to all the best places.
Here
are two of my favorite photos!

Great job!!! Thanks so much! We really enjoyed ourselves and the entire package you put together.
Our guides were FANTASTIC!! We were met everywhere by a driver or guide who helped us navigate the various ports of travel (air/bus/train) – just amazing. And, they know everyone in town so we got VIP treatment. ABSOLUTELY 5 STAR! The quality of staff and the amount of training they receive is impressive. As well as their ability to speak multiple languages with absolute fluency. Lima, Ica, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu & the Amazon.
We didn’t realize how spoiled we were being picked up and escorted to/from all locations until we took public transport with my fiance’s mother and aunt the last day in Lima. Everything really was a treat. You guys are a great travel broker. We could not have done this trip without you!
Thanks!!!! And a special thanks to Robert Els who made it all possible and was beyond patient with me.
Thanks again for everything!!!
April Sharr, Houston, USA, November 2011
Dear Robert
Very appreciative of support / timeliness of staff as we travelled to different locations - facilitated and expedited our arrivals and departures at airports, extremely well informed and professional guides, personal service at every stop. Excellent.
Information provided regarding the itinerary was carried out with precision and professionalism. Information provided by guides on Galapagos Island tour - Legend and in Peru was very impressive and enthusiastically given. The hotels were very accommodating and comfortable - appreciated staying in local, boutique hotels instead of large chains. Hampton Inn in Guayaquil was only chain hotel but it was well located for big city accommodation.
The airlines and tour transportation were very comfortable and accommodating. Appreciated the small tour vans with only a handful of people and the personal service at airport arrivals and departures.
The Casa San Blas in Cusco and the Hotel Alberge in Ollantaytambo were
exquisite, but all the hotels were very comfortable and provided great service.
The local guides were all fantastic.
The Legend was excellent in every way - service, food, friendly and helpful
staff, very efficient and informative visits to islands. Guide Victor Hugo
was very knowledgable and engaging each day.
We thoroughly enjoyed visits to Galapagos and Machu Picchu, and vists to
Lima and Quito were a bonus!
Thank you for the well planned trip to SA and delivering on your proposed itinerary in such an effective highly professional manner.

Dear all,
You gave me a wonderful trip to Peru and I want to thank you so much. In the planning stage, you let me include what I wanted and still gave me the benefit of your experience to make this trip flow smoothly. While on the trip, I asked for changes and you responded quickly and handled everything efficiently. And the guides I had, especially Teo in Lima who must be in the top 5 guides in the entire country, were good to excellent. While I have traveled extensively, I have never had a first class trip like this. Having someone else take care of everything was a delightful experience - one that I hope to repeat with you to another South American country in the next year.
Carol Collins, Santa Rosa, CA, October 2011
Hi Steve,
Sorry to be so long getting this e-mail away but we want you to know that we have very fond memories of our recent tour of Peru with “Escaped to Latin America”. From when we began our tour in Peru on August 21 until it ended on September 5 back in Lima we experienced nothing but marvellous support from all facets of your company. In fact the support began when we first contacted the company in late 2010 and encountered Sam Geoffries who did a wonderful job putting our tour together . There were at least eight e-mails making changes mostly brought about by requests from us. We have compared what we did on our tour with the offerings of other tour companies and we believe that our tour offered better value for money. The support continued throughout the duration of the tour beginning with staff responsible for transfers, guides who were both knowledgeable and understanding and the many drivers of vehicles. We encountered no difficulties except for a problem with flights from Aerquipa to Lima at tour end. However the problem was resolved early and we were kept updated with developments at every stage. We were so certain that things would be resolved because the company seemed to have staff who cared about their clients welfare.
Joy Anderson, Melbourne, Australia, October 2011
Hello Jo!
The survey wouldn't let me click on the ratings but I just wanted to let you know that everything about our Peru trip was just wonderful! All the guides were excellent and tours were spectacular and educational--transfers were for the most part good except for no one being there to pick us up that one time (but I think it was our flight time changed). The accommodations were good except (understandably being third world country) the shower situations in most places needed a little work. I realise water is a precious commodity there but it took forever to take a shower with pressure and problems with hot & cold so we were in the shower twice as long!) I'm not going to keep complaining about stuff because all in all Escaped Tours did a fantastic job of making our trip to Peru a most memorable experience. I'm so glad my friend Patti talked me into taking that trip. We both took thousands of pictures!
I would defintely recommend your company to anyone traveling to Peru!
Thank you so much!
Susan Sems, Ohio, United States, October 2011
Dear ETP
Returned home. GREAT trip. Now, I feel like I've been everywhere even though I have not. The trip was flawless. Peru, in general, is much more organized and capable than I originally perceived.
Thank you.
Marc Margulis, California, United States, September 2011
Thank you to everyone who organised our trip. We were so grateful to see all our guides and transfers after long journeys. Particular thanks to Boris (Cusco guide) and Sam for his organisation and efficiency.
Claire Gittoes, London, UK, September 2011
Could not fault anything with your office service. All information provided was above what we expected. The standard of accommodation was excellent wherever we were.Transport was excellent, even for Ian who is 6’ 5” tall. Fernando – our guide in the four days in the jungle, was just wonderful. All other guides were excellent. We were very happy with the cost and value for money that we paid for our trip.
Lorraine and Ian Anderson, Melbourne, Australia, September 2011
Hi Steve,
From the moment we started dealing with Escaped to Latin America we were
given the best of advice and assistance, that continued throughout the tour.
From people such as yourself and Sam (who in the early days was most helpful)
your guides, your transfer people, we received nothing but fantastic service.
You produced for us a holiday that we will long remember. Names, which
up until now existed only in books and travel guides, are now places we
have fond memories of. Thank you.
Saludos Cordiales
Geoff Anderson, Melbourne, Australia, September 2011
I had a great experience with Escaped to Latin America. My parents recommended
your company after they took a trip to South America earlier this year.
My emails were answered quickly and Escaped helped me plan my tour to perfection.
The hotels and transport in Iguazu were good and my guide, Marcelo, was
very knowledgable. The only thing I didn't like was that Marcelo told too
many jokes that made fun of Argentina.
Many thanks,
Christy Sheilds, California, August 2011
Hello Robert,
Just a quick email to let you know that our trip to Peru was great.
Everything flowed smoothly and on schedule. The guides, drivers and hotel
personnel were all wonderful. The places you suggested that we visit
were fascinating. Words cannot describe Machu Picchu, which was certainly
the highlight of the trip. There were no adverse events, we got our
money's worth, for sure!
Thank you for your expert service and your patience with us old folks visiting
South America for the first time. Just in case you're collecting more restaurant
ideas, here's a vegetarian restaurant we discovered very near our hotel
in Puno. The man running it was very nice and the food was delicious
and reasonably priced.

Dear Escaped
We had a great trip. Thanks to all of you at Escaped to Latin America who did an outstanding job of helping us plan and implement our trip to Peru. We will remember our adventures for a long time, and will remember all the special touches you arranged for us. Our inquiries were always answered within hours! Your guides all did a top-notch job.

Steve and Sam:
Sorry for the delay in answering. Getting back to work has been really hectic and time consuming, but we wanted to thank you and your company. All the arrangements were great and very well organized. I really appreciate the trip and my Fiancee and I wanted to thank you.
I will be referring people to your website here as well.

Hello Seppe,
Just wanted to tell you that I had an absolutely amazing time in Peru. Transportation
was always on time, very reliable. Lovely hotels, and all of the guides
were great, Boris, Clever and Leylis were exceptional, they made me feel
very safe. I am going to travel to South America again, and you are definitely
the company I am going to travel with. I will email you with my next destination.
That was one of the best trips I ever had. Thank you so much, I will recommend
your services to everyone who is interested in travelling to South America.
Thank you so much, Lana.

Hi Gary, Steve and the Escaped team.
Thank you so much for your note. I wanted to let you know that I had an amazing trip and that Escaped to Peru did an AMAZING job!
Thanks so much and I hope you have a great day!

Hi Kareema,
Thank you for your email, I will write a review on Trip Advisor and it will be a good one. We had a wonderful vacation and the highlights are of course Machu Picchu and the Uros Islands. Machu Picchu is such a mystical romantic place and the Uros are amazing. The people are so friendly and need of lot of praise for the way they live, it's hard to explain to our friends about the islands and how they are built, but we have lots of photos. All the hotels were wonderful, the service fantastic and even the weather was great!!
We must also let you know how much we enjoyed the guide Edgar Mendevil, he is so knowledegable and still strives to learn more about the Incas. Oh, and thank you for the bottle of wine you left in the room for us. We have brought it home to drink.
All the hotels as I said earlier were great but the best accommodation and setting was certainly Sol Y Luna in the Sacred Valley, we wished we were staying for longer. Best restaurants, La Rosa Nautica and Huaca Pucllana (I'm not sure of spelling) in Lima, abosultely wonderful food and locations, but all the rest were excellent too.
We will certainly recommend our friends to visit Peru and the same cities that we did and will certainly recommend that they use your company. We are hoping to go visit Argentina next year, so you will hear from us again.
Thanks for arranging our great vacation.
Janet and Keith Wheatstone, Surrey, UK, May 2011
Hi Steve,
Thanks for a most memorable, exciting and adventurous vacation in Peru and Bolivia. This weekend I plan to write a glowing review for Trip Advisor. I truly appreciate the hard work of you, Sam and the rest of your staff.
Next year, I'd like to travel to Chile, featuring Easter Island, Santiago and Arica.
Thanks for your help.
Millicent Tyler, CA, USA, May 2011
Dear Escaped
We had a fantastic adventure! Everyone we dealt with was very kind and informative...very much enjoyed the tour guides, they were very knowledgeable and so very proud of their country. It was very nice to see! It was also nice to hook up with the different couples that were also travelling at the same time..We very much enjoyed our time in your country.

Hi Steve and Seppe,
I completed some feedback on Trip Advisor. I want to thank you and Seppe for setting up a great trip for me. It really exceeded my expectations. All the hotels were great, the Posadas Amazonas was outstanding, and the hike to Machu Picchu was excellent. My contact in Cusco, Boris, was outstanding; he kept me well informed of my scheduled events and personally got me where I needed to be each day. Abroad Trekkers placed me with another company because I was their only customer those days and they sent their guide with me. It worked out great - I was with a great group of men and the hike was outstanding.
Overall, one of the best vacations I've ever had. All the people you had co-ordinating my time in Peru did an outstanding job. Seppe was very helpful during the planning process, promptly answered all my questions, some of which he probably heard 3 or 4 times from me! I will not hesitate to recommend you to others and will definitely look at you to coordinate other trips I may make in the future.
David Lloyd, Ohio, USA, May 2011
Hi Seppe,
We would also like to thank you for the organisation of our trip, it was
perfect from start to finish. We were always met on time by your agents
who were always eager to help and often went the extra mile to make sure
we were well looked after. We should mention Boris in Cusco here as he arranged
to get our cases from Ollantaytambo back to Cusco while we were walking
the Inca Trail.
All the guides were superb; we were so impressed by their sense of pride
in their country and their eagerness to share it with us; they made us feel
very welcome and privileged to be in Peru. As well as guiding us around
the sites/sights they also talked to us about life in Peru and their hopes
for the future of the country which was interesting in the light of the
presidential election that happened while we were there.
We had a fantastic trip which exceeded our expectations and we would be more than happy to recommend Escaped to Peru to anyone planning a trip. In particular we would recommend you to personally organise things, so thank you very much for your contribution to such a great trip. We would be happy to provide specific feedback on any detail of the trip if you need it.
Best wishes
Greg and Amanda Taylor, Middlesex, UK, April 2011
Dear ETLA
Returned from our trip. By way of feedback the people you work with in Cuzco are outstanding. The guide you provided Raoul was first rate we spent 3 days with him. He was exceedingly well prepared, knowledgeable, and passionate about his work. Similarly in Puno a very good organization. We enjoyed our trip immensely.
We would be more than happy to recommend your organization and services.
David Rose, New York,

Hi Steve,
Replying to your email with regard to our South American trip and visit to Chile. What can I say? An amazing holiday which went far too quickly.
Transport provided was very good, and at times excellent. The information provided was excellent and the guides were extremely knowledgeable and took time to answer all questions. We would recommend all of them.
The standard of accommodation in Punta Arenas, and Torres del Paine was 1st class. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, particularly the reception, tour and bar staff in Lago Gray, who went out of their way to make our time there special. In fact on our 2nd night we were unexpectedly upgraded to a Superior room with a view of the lake and glacier! What a view and even the weather was good. The tours were excellent, particularly to Moon Valley, Tatio Geysers, and our transfer to Torres.
Our stay at Don Tomas was ok but the staff weren't as friendly as at the other hotels, they didn't smile a lot! Having said that we were comfortable, and would not complain about our time there. They did a good packed breakfast for our visit to Tatio Geyser, and the internet was free!!
All in all we had a wonderful holiday, enjoyed everything, the Magdalene Island trip was amazing, very exhilarating and certainly a highlight. I found my first sight of Grand Paine overwhelming, the sunrises over Punta Arenas were amazing, and I could go on and on.
I first discovered you on the internet, and would certainly recommend you highly, and for diversity of tours, Seppe’s help and suggestions for hotels and tours, and his prompt replies whenever I communicated with him. Value for money was very good and we will certainly look to you again when planning future tours of South America, particularly Chile, Galapagos and Ecuador.
A really 1st class experience, thank you. I would be happy for you to use my comments to promote your company.
Kind regards,
Sheila and Tony Saunders, Mid Glamorgan, Wales, March 2011
Dear Escaped to Latin America
The whole trip to Peru booked with Escaped to Latin America has been perfect. There is nothing I would change. Our guides have been fantastic, pick ups always on time and hotels were all excellent. Dave and I would like to sincerely express our gratitude for the wonderfull adventure that you put together for us.
Kind Regards
Alan Timms, Queensland, Australia, March 2011
Dear Escaped
Everything went very well - excellent guides and Boris took great care of us. The Inkaterra Pueblo hotel was incredible. This has been a memorable trip. Great planning - Everything perfect!
Kuiper Family, USA, March 2011
Hi Steve,
Yes, we enjoyed really our travel with you and it exceeded our expectations in almost all aspects.
Seppe did a tremendous job in advising and planning our trip in a very short time. Great communication. The documents provided were great with sufficient details and easy to forward to friends and family.
The jungle in Ecuador, at Sacha Lodge, was excellent besides your traditional suggestions (Machu Picchu, Foz de Iguassu). The Hotel Cataratas was also very, very good. We appreciated the pick-up service in the airports and the timely guides (never late).
Annette and Hans Thorkilgaard, Denmark, February 2011
I would like to thank you and everyone at Escaped to Latin America (Zara especially) for organizing such an amazing and unforgettable trip to the Bolivian Amazon.
Zara Woolley did a tremendous job of providing me with all the necessary information, in a very timely manner and checking in periodically to ensure I had everything I needed.
The Hotel Orient was excellent. Very rustic and "Amazon" like, with it's screen windows and barebones amenities. Courtyard was very relaxing and inviting with hammocks abound. The boat transfer to/from Chalalan Lodge was as good as anyone could ask for, considering it was in the Amazon.
My Chalalan Guide, Andres, was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and friendly throughout the trip. What impressed me the most was what happened after our tour was over. Upon arrival back to Rurrenabaque, there were a few hours to spend in town before a 1:30pm bus shuttle to the airport. I took a late lunch and it ran past 1:30pm. Andres, realizing that I missed my shuttle, borrowed a motorbike and went around town looking for me. I ended up riding to the airport on the back of the motorbike....very fun. And then he spent some time at the airport to make sure I get settled in before he left. I can't thank Andres enough for everything he did during my trip.
The night walks through the jungle, listening for nocturnal wildlife and trying to spot some with our flashlights was a highlight, together with the information Andres passed along regarding the flora and fauna, and all the artisanal and medicinal usage of each.
Trung Lee, Portland, Oregon, USA, February 2011
Dear Escaped
I could not find a suitable category on Trip Advisor to post our comments,
so I thought I would reply to you directly.
We really enjoyed our vacation that you organized for us. We were met and
delivered to our hotels and tours in a timely fashion and only one hotel
in Aguas Calientes failed to fully meet our expectations. Our personal tour
of Lima was great, our guide was very knowledgeable (he's a retired history
teacher) and did a great job of filling in all the cultures that existed
in Lima.
We had not realized how high Cuzco is and were very grateful for the extra quiet day there before travelling to Machu Picchu. Combining the tour of the Sacred Valley to Ollantayambo, staying the night there before catching the train the next morning was wonderful...... we were the envy of the rest of the members of the tour as they were all going back to Cuzco before coming back the next day!
It was great to be able to go back up to Machu Picchu on our own the next
morning and have some quiet time at such a wonderful place. We enjoyed our
second quiet day in Cuzco which gave us a chance to get rested and organized
to the next stage of our trip, the train to Puno. This was such a relaxing
way to travel and I enjoyed the observation carriage which was great for
taking photos. We enjoyed the floating islands on Lake Titicaca but found
the climb up Taquile quite stressful, we would have preferred to just visit
the floating islands. All our guides were great and made our vacation very
interesting, we would not hesitate to recommend your tour company to our
friends.
As an extra tale, when we were on our day tour of Lima, my camera slid under
the seat in front and I realised it was missing when we got back to the
hotel. Fortunately we went to the light show at Fountains Park and the driver
did an excellent job of locating the missing camera. We were lucky a second
time in Aguas Calientes, Mike had gone back to the hotel to get our luggage
and I went to the market close to the train station. I bought some items
and had to dig into my bag to find my wallet and inadvertantly left my camera
at the stall. I met up with Mike and we asked for directions to the station.
As we were entering the station, the lady who served me in the market came
running up with my camera!!!! She had checked with other stall holders and
found out where we were headed. What a story of honesty.

Dear Steve:
We had a wonderful time!
I don't think I can adequately express my gratitude and appreciation for
the people involved with making our trip so wonderful. From our driver
in Lima (I've forgotten his name!)...Boris in Cusco...Berto in Machu Picchu...Alexander
in Puno...and all the other drivers and tour guides that were provided for
us were professional, knowledgeable, polite, kind, and enthusiastic.
We felt comfortable and safe at all times and gained so much knowledge about
Peru.
I can't recommend your company highly enough!
Lindsay Morgan, North Carolina, USA, January 2011
Dear Sirs:
We just wanted to thank you for a wonderful week in Peru.
Your drivers and guides were punctual, knowledgeable, and courteous. We organized the trip with short notice, yet your company was able to accommodate all our needs within budget. Overall, our expectations were vastly exceeded. We will remember this trip for many years, and won't hesitate to recommend your company to our friends.
Thanks in particular for your assistance with the cell phone that we left in Aguas Calientes. Thanks to you and to your guides, it made its way back to us, we are very pleased and thankful.
The Riera Family, Boca Raton, Florida, USA, January 2011
Hi guys,
Sorry it took so long for me to write this, but you know how it goes.
I should start by saying thanks for the most memorable trip of our lifetime. Having travelled almost everywhere with the family for a period of 22 years, we decided to embark on a very unusual destination. After a lot of research, my daughter came up with Guatemala and Honduras. At first, we got barraged with warnings from well meaning friends about the lack of safety for Americans in these two countries. But futher research and lot of brainstorming led us to follow our intsticts and do what we feel is right. I am so glad we stuck to our plans. These two countries are one of the safest places we have been to!! At no point did we feel threatened, nor did we feel people were staring at us. Guats and Hondurans are very warm and friendly people. They welcomed us with smiles and lots of humor.
From start to end, your company came through for us like clockwork. Seppe's on time communication was just superb. Everything was delivered as promised. We were met at the airport by a very nice driver in a clean car and he drove us to our hotel. We spent the day and night in Guate City and had the best local food ever in a Fresh taco place.
Next morning our super efficient guide Mannuel met us at the hotel, ON TIME. Although it was Christmas Day. We drove straight to Honduras in a super clean van with Mannuel entertaining us with stories on the local culture. This is when the family fell in love with our able guide. My husband found a buddy in him. We stayed in a gorgeous eco type hotel in Copan. Nice latin music by the pool, lots of margaritas and guacamole rounded the evening off very nicely. Next morning we went to see the Mayan ruins which was very very educational/ All in all Honduras, with its greenery, cobblestone roads and pretty textiles, is worth a visit.
In Guatemala, my favorite was definitely Livingtone!! What a place. Albeit the walk carrying our luggage across a National Park, we were met by a great boat driver who took us on our hour long journey to Livingstone. We passed through densely wooded canyons loaded with different kinds of birds. It was a unbelievable sight! Something that only movies have captured so far. We passed several fishing villages and hostels. UNREAL!! It was stunning. We were very sad when our journey ended at the confluence of the Atlantic and Rio Dulce. But soon our sadness turned into more joy when we saw the resort that had been booked for us! They were little bungalows facing the water and on the edge of a Macaw park! Hundreds of beautiful birds all around. We walked to town in the night (2 minutes) and the locals were singing and dancing for us. So so cute. Enjoyed every moment of it.
A trip to Flores was of course a must. The Mayans were waiting for us!! Tikal was awsome. We went to Temple 4. They dont do the sunrise tour anymore but daytime was just fine. Lot of archeology still going on by different groups but you learn a lot. Then our great local guide who also spoke flawless English walked us through a subtropical rain forest. We never knew hiking would be our thing too. Spider monkeys, howler monkey and a weird rodent galore, it was a once in a lifetime experience. Needless to say, we had a ball.
We spent New Years Eve in Antigua for we had a couple of young ladies (our daughters 21 and 24) with us. With a lot of discussion on safety and fun with Seppe they decided this is place to be. We are soooooooooo glad we listened to him. Antigua is a tourist town and they safely partied till the wee hours of the morning in downtown Antigua. We hired a hotel booked taxi to and fro for our peace of mind. This cost us 5 times the usual rate, but we were willing to pay that price. Ok OK so it was only US $ 25!! But the driver was superb, who escorted them to the bar and picked them up by right from the doorstep like a protective father would do.
The girls and I had a lot of fun manuvering the markets of Chichicastenango. We bargained a lot, got ripped off a lot and in the end we had a lot of fun. We came home with great memories. Jay and Mannuel found a coffee shop and talked world history and politics.
VEGETARIANS take note: We are a vegetarian family. We had absolutely no problem finding veggie food anywhere. As a matter of fact we found vegan and veggie restaurants in Panahachel. A lot of restaurants feature a Vegetariano menu on their boards. No waiter batted even an eyelid, and were very accomodating. Lots of fresh, locally grown veggies and fruits. We broke the cardinal rule of travel and tried all the exotic fruits. We ate the mango slices from the roadside stalls. We ate pineapple slices and zapote. These just a few. No one got sick and I am so glad we were adventurous. We were careful of water and ice. Always bottled and no ice.
I just want to thank Escaped to Latin America for a vacation that truly is and probably will be our favorite. We have been all over the world but Guatemala will be on our A list. Its a pleasure working with you. Macchu Picchu, here we come!

Hello Zara:
I just wanted to drop a line telling you what a great experience my wife and I had during our trip to Peru over the Christmas break. Your team down there provided us with prompt and excellent service combined with a passion and honest love for their country and culture.
Nobody can prepare you for the impact of the altitude, but your team was empathic to our needs and understanding of each of our capabilities, working with us to ensure we were comfortable and secure.
I do want to talk about one particular thing that happened that really stood out during our trip. While in Aguas Caliente, we accidently left my company Blackberry in our room safe. We did not realize this until we had returned to Cusco. Boris, our Escaped contact person contacted the hotel for us, arranged transportation of the phone via cab and train back to Cusco and made sure that we got it back by the following evening. We were leaving for Puno the next morning, so you can imagine how relieved we were to have him return it to us by the evening prior. Just an example of how well connected and networked your team is to be able to manage such a feat.
I would very much recommend your services to anyone contemplating a trip to Peru.

Querido Steve:

Steve,
Thank you for the follow-up.

The tour company(Americana) in Cuzco was great. All very professional
and we always were well handled. We had Edgar for two different tours and
we was very entertaining. Lots of background which was fantastic.
The same company handled Macchu Picchu and again they were great.
I think the guides name was Beto(?) excellent
In Puno, the tour company(Suri Explorer) again was great. Our guide
was Cleve and he was outstanding and had a very respectful relationship
with the different people we encountered.
All of the hotels were very nice. The one in Cuzco was not quite as
nice but the people at the hotel were awesome and we were there for 3 nights
with 3 people so it all balanced out in my mind for the trip cost. No complaints!
No real problems. The power supply was a little problematic.
I had purchased a portable transformer and plug adapters but could only
use them in Puno. In Macchu Picchu and Puno the room had one 110V
line. This was unexpected and very very nice!
I thought the value was incredible. I know the exchange rate and all,
but I could not believe all we were given for the cost. Still can't
believe it! I think Macchu Picchu was just so magical. To sit up there
in the afternoon as it quieted down-great for reflection and peace.
I almost wish we had finished there as a culmination of the trip.
I think Cuzco was enough for two days. Lake Titicaca i thought might
be a let down but it is so magnificent. And stopping by the funerary
towers en route to Juliaca for the flight back was also a wonderful experience.
I will certainly recommend your company. My wife and I hope to return
to Latin America. We went to Costa Rica and fell in love with the
Drake Peninsula. There are so many places we want to see in the world.
I found you through Google believe it or not. I viewed many sites
and sent e-mails to three. Zara got back to me first AND had a rough
itinerary already laid out. She was great and she is also why I chose
your company!
Americana and Suri were excellent all the way. Great experience with
both. Always felt safe and well taken care of! My father and my nephew
(his grandson) and myself had a wonderful trip. We will never forget
it. And I thank you for making it happen for us. Well done.
Sincerely,

Hi Escaped
Just a few lines to thank you for helping me in the trip to Peru. I had
a wonderful time. I also was impressed with your knowledge and how attentive
you were with my requests. Thank you so much. I loved the hotels you chose
and the tour guides. Have a wonderful Christmas.
David Munoz, Milwaukee, USA, December 2010
Dear Seppe and Steve:
I was 100% pleased with all the arrangements you provided for the Tour to Cuzco and Machu Picchu for me and my brother Javier. We had a blast. We were taken by the hand every step of the way, from A to Z by your very capable and knowledgeable guides, drivers, and coordinators who seemed to have the answer to every question.
All of your guides including the contacts in Lima, Jimmy at the airport in Cuzco, Beto in Machu Picchu and the other Cuzco guide who took us to the sites in Cuzco (I cannot think of his name, he was the best) were outstanding.
I will definately use your company for our next South American adventure. Everything was a 10 on the 1 to 10 scale.
Sincerely,
Antonio de la Luz MD, Georgia, USA, December 2010
Hi Steve
We are glad to give you some feedback on our trip to South America.
The itinerary that was made for us to include all of the areas that we wanted to visit was excellent, Kareema did a great job in fitting a lot into a 3 week period. The document that we received outlining all of the places that we were going to visit, the highlights of the area, the facilities and hotel inclusions was our map for the whole trip. Well worth while because we would have completely forgotten where we would be on what day.
There was no one stand out highlight of our trip as we enjoyed every place we visited and they were all individually exciting and different. If we had to pick one it would be a toss up between Easter Island and Machu Picchu.
Thank you for all of the organization that went into our trip, we did not have to worry about any aspect other than to turn up at the allotted time and someone would look after every detail for us.
Debbie Warrell, New South Wales, Australia, November, 2010
Hi Zara,
Sorry this is about 2 months overdue. I just wanted to say thanks for sorting
everything out. We had an amazing holiday and everything went really smoothly.
We'll definitely use your services again when we come back to South America.
Thanks Again,
Clair Manley, Leeds, England, October 2010
Dear Escaped,
We would like to thank you very much for organizing this amazing trip.
We were pleasantly suprised how well everything was organized starting with
airport & hotel pick-ups, hotel bookings, city tour guides, jungle tour
and ending with Saltkantay trek to Machu Picchu.
We had a great time in Peru, which is a captivating country with a lot of
contrasts, lovely people and amazing culture. Please extend our thanks to
Liliana (Lima City tour guide), Oscar (jungle tour guide) - who impressed
us with his knowledge not only about the jungle but also history, IT, culture),
Silvia (Sacred Valley tour guide) - one of the best guides we ever
had, her passion and knowledge are impressive, Gerson (Salkantay tour guide)
- great, friendly guide, our chefs - excellent food and always prepared
on time and our horsemen for all the help on the Salkantay trek, and to
Boris which was always available for us and provided all the info we might
have needed.
Thank you for showing us how wonderful Peru can be!
Best regards,

Zara,
We really want to thank you and your company for the fabulous trip we had in Peru. Our trip went off perfectly and that's thanks to your efforts. The hotels and bookings were as wonderful as we had hoped them to be. All the little things added up to a great trip. Things like having our Machu Picchu train seats facing the direction of travel and being on different sides of the train coming and going, a private guide at Machu Picchu, the well written and well organized itinerary, and Boris personally walking us through the airport are the type of small touches that really make the ordinary special. The real surprise tho was the transfers you had arranged. Never once did anything go wrong, there was always someone waiting for us with our names on a sheet of paper. How do you manage that ? We had no idea that we would be taken care of in such a complete manner, and it made traveling a special experience.
Trip Advisor, your website, and your owners extensive blogs were crucial in convincing us to take the leap of faith and book with you. Thank you for everything.
Ken and Cindy Boos, Colorado, USA, November 2010
Hi, Kareema.
Just wanted you to know what a wonderful trip we had in Peru. Everything went like clockwork. We were always met on time by very well informed, congenial guides. We appreciated the service of the hotel staff, and obviously, we loved our tours.
So again, thank you for all your hard work.
Jill Stiemsma, Wisconsin, USA, October 2010
Dear Seppe
We are now home after a few days with friends on our return from Peru.
Thank you so much for arranging our trip - we were looked after by the friendly representatives / tour guides extremely well. The Hiram Bingham train journey was one of the highlights and Keith was quite overcome when they sang happy birthday! Thank you for arranging that. We now know there is so much more to Peru than Machu Picchu!!
Our grateful thanks to you and all at Escaped to Latin America for helping to make our trip a truly memorable one.
Kind regards,
Ruth Cox, London, UK, October 2010
Hi, Zara!
Thank you very much for very well organized trip. With your help we had
unforgettable journey and one of the most wonderful vacations we've ever
taken.
We got everything that was planned and even beyond. We liked Peru, this
is a wonderful country with amazing history, great nature and very friendly
people.
Machu Picchu is the definitely world wonder. Everybody must see it. We are very proud that we took hiking trail there. It was very hard but it worth. Of course if somebody expected that this trip will be like a “walk in NY Central Park on a sunny afternoon” he would be disappointed, but we knew what we were getting into and we are very happy.
All hotels we've stayed in were very good. All our local guides and people who helped us with transportation were very helpful and friendly.
We have friends who are planning go to Peru. We will highly recommend them to deal with you. Also, we are looking forward to go to Chile & Patagonia sometime. We will contact you.
Best regards,

Hi Seppe
We recommend to your travellers the Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu which was excellent in every way. Thank you for an excellent and well planned tour which we have thoroughly enjoyed.

Dear Seppe
We're halfway through the vacation and are having a WONDERFUL trip. We really appreciate the great tour you have arranged. We are just about to leave the Colca Canyon and head to Puno.
We wish this trip could last forever. I guess that means we'll just have to come back!
Thanks again!

Hola Kareema,
Just to let you know that we had a wonderful trip in Peru and that all the
arrangements were fine. We certainly will consider your company in the future.
Thanks and best regards.
Fernando Miranda, Valparaiso, Chile, September 2010
Gary,
We had a terrific time. Key to our enjoyment was Jorge and Ricardo's guidance and courtesy. Jorge's command of English, his insight into the local culture, and the access he was able to give us was exemplary.
I look forward to joining him some day in the Rainforest, or even showing him around the Midwest of the US, if he ever makes it here. He's a good guy and represented your organization, and the country, very well.
While I don't have another trip to Latin America planned at any time in the near future, I will certainly contact you when the need arises.
Kind regards,
Daniel and Kevin, New York, USA, September 2010
Thank you, Zara.
Everything was wonderful. The transfers went without a hitch and the tour guides were fantastic. Very knowledgeable and philosophical. Boris in Cusco was an exceptional help.
Thanks for arranging such a wonderful experience.

Dear Steve
Yes we are back home and back in full swing with work!! So sad that such
a wonderful trip should come to an abrupt stop!! Back to reality for us.
We enjoyed the trip immensely. I wanted to email you and thank you for all
the hard work, and the help we received from Zara who was absolutely brilliant
to work with.
Thank you so much for everything
Regards

Hi Zara,
Wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic holiday in Peru. All the arrangements went smoothly. Please pass on our thanks to the guides who made the whole holiday so enjoyable. Their local knowledge really helped make the most of a fascinating trip.
Kind regards,
Lyn Lawrence, York, England, July / August 2010
Dear Steve
It was great from start to finish, all I had hoped for. Macchu Picchu was exceptional of course. All the guides were very polite and informative. I would recommend them to anyone. I have a friend on her way to Chile in November but I think she has everything booked but I will check. If not I will recommend "Escaped to Latin America". Thanks you for making my visit so grand.
Gary Miller, Yellowknife, Canada, July 2010
Hi Zara
The trip was very well organized. At every step of the trip there was someone waiting for us as our coordinator. Boris was a very nice coordinator, very helpful and we had no problems at all. I would definately recommend your company for Latin American trips.
Chetan Patel (party of 8), New York, USA, July 2010
Dear Escaped to Peru
Our trip to Peru was absolutely fantastic - we were thrilled with the level of service provided throughout our trip. Everything ran smoothly, our guides and escorts were fantastic, and we really liked our hotels (especially in Cusco and Puno). Please extend my thanks to Kareema for all of her help- she was great in helping us put together a trip that had exactly what we wanted and was within our price range. I would definitely travel with your company again and would certainly recommend you to my friends.
Thanks for everything,
Jeniffer Ginsberg, Illinois, USA, July 2010
Dear Seppe
Everything has gone perfect and everyone is professional and punctual, thanks for a great trip.

Dear Kareema
I just wanted to say thank you for all your help with our trip to Peru. We had a great time, the hotels were very nice and the food was great.
Gary Lefebvre (plus 11 other travelers), USA, June 2010.
Dear Escaped to Peru
This has been an excellent tour. Borris was punctual and very helpul. Raoul was amazing! Very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Yuli was great and very helpful. Overall a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend to others.
Meredith Shaw, Michigan, USA, June 2010.
Dear Steve
The standard of hotel accommodation was excellent, with exception the Casa
Andina PC at Puno, which I would class as good. We thought the two other
Casa Andina PC's, in Lima and Arequipa, were far superior. As was the Colca
Lodge and both the amazing Inkaterra Pueblo Hotel and the Awanwa in the
Sacred Valley
The standard of transport was good with excellent guides, in particular
Daniel and his driver in Colca, Daniel spoke excellent English, very informative,
a great interest in life, intelligent and humorous, a perfect guide. We
were impressed also with the Inka Express bus service, the whole trip was
excellent with a superb guide, unfortunately I don’t remember his
name. We hadn’t been looking forward to as it was to be a long day
sat on a coach, but it was a highlight. Watching the wonderful changing
scenery and catching so many delightful glimpses of the local people going
about their daily life was very special. All this, plus the organised stops
and the most fantasic lunch, well done.
Lake Titicaca was also a very special day, the people on the floating islands
so friendly and welcoming, a fascinating insight into one of the wonders
of the world, as was also Taquile a beautiful island and again a delicious
lunch.
Would like to back up your recommendation for the restaurant in Urubamba,
the El Huacalay, small intimate family run with excellent tasty food. Also
liked Pacha Papa in the San Blas district of Cusco, wonderful atmosphere,
good wine, great food. Had a great meal in Arequipa, forgotten the name
but it was on San Francisco, a lovely Peruvian restaurant.
I suppose the highlight for us was the Inka Trail and Machu Picchu, after
all that was my main reason for our visit. It was everything we expected
and more! Glad I hadn’t realized beforehand how tough it was at times,
but what an achievement. It was a tremendous experience and wouldn’t
have missed a moment of it.
I think you did an excellent job arranging the various tours and all our
transfers despite the understandable situation with the transfer at Ollantaytambo
station, thank you for the payment for the taxi fare. The Peruvian people
we found to be extremely helpful, polite and with a great love for their
country. I was continually fascinated by the women's dress and could have
spent the whole 3 weeks photographing them and their children.
The whole trip was brilliant from Lima to the Sacred Valley where we celebrated
47 years of marriage on our last day in Peru. On the afternoon at the Aranwa
I had mentioned that it would be nice to have a slice of cake with our coffee,
explaining why. Within a very short space of time, a table was set by the
pool, a specially iced chocolate cake and a beautiful basket of exotic flowers
all presented with smiles and good wishes! What more is there to say.
Thank you for everything, naturally we would have no reservations in recommending
Escaped to Latin America.
The very best wishes to you and your company.
Jo and Tony Jamison, Nottingham, England, June 2010.
Hi Gary
Everybody we encountered was accomodating and helpful. Juan and Enrique were great in Lima. I'm forgetting some names in Cusco, but Vanya and the other gentlemen were great. Everybody was communicative and professional, we never felt like we didn't know what was going on.
As to specific highlights, it was all great, but it is tough to beat the Inca Trail and Macchu Picchu! The trekking people, Fredy, Dimitrio, and the other porters were excellent.
Dan Paulo, Chicago, USA, June 2010.
Dear Anna
We had a wonderful vacation in Peru. Things worked out beautifully. Casa Andina Private Collection, in Arequipa, was a splurge for us and well worth it. We arrived at 6a.m. totally exhausted from an overnight bus ride and they found a room for us by 8a.m. They were extremely helpful and accommodating.
We were met at the airport by two lovely men, muy simpatico, and they made our bus ride to Ollantaytambo a wonderful experience. Alan and Marco from Americana. Alan did all our drop offs and pick ups to and from airports and bus stations while we were in the Cusco area. He is a gem, friendly and helpful and always timely.
The second day in Ollantaytambo we were picked up by our first guide, Raul. He was passionate about the Inca ruins and totally inspired us. He was friendly, his English was excellent and he was totally willing to accommodate our needs. We highly recommend him. We learned a lot about the history and culture of the country and also learned about the fruits and vegetables in the area. At the Pisac market we even got to try some of these fruits and saw many of the varieties of potatoes. Machu Picchu was incredible. It did not disappoint. Our guide there was very informative and we went back a second day and climbed Huachi picchu. We made it to the top and had a spectacular view, definitely a highlight.
Other highlights: The ruins outside of Cusco, Saqsayhuaman, the monastery at Arequipa, Lake Titicaca..Our guide, Clever, from Puno, was excellent. He spoke English extremely well and he was informative about the area. We loved the floating islands and had a truly memorable experience on the island of Amantani.
It was definitely a good idea to start out in Ollantaytambo and go to Macchu Picchu first, get acclimated, and then go to Cusco. We did take pills for the altitude for a few days at the beginning of our trip and also chewed some Coca leaves when we went to Colca Canyon (our guide Maritza from Giardino) was totally helpful and made certain we did not experience altitude sickness during our two days in the Colca Canyon.
Again, a great trip, many thanks
Karen Harber, California, USA, June 2010.
Dear Escaped to Latin America
Amazing trip and looking forward to using Escaped to Latin America on a future trip(s).
Thank You!
Sara and Josh Bunning, Denver, USA, June 2010.
Hi Steve,
We had a fantastic time! Thanks for your help in coordinating our trip. We were very pleased by the level of comfort, cleanliness, friendliness, and charm of our hotels in Cusco, Aguas Caliente, and the Amazon. The highlight visits were Machu Picchu and the Amazon. Peruvian culture and cuisine are spectacular and the Cusco tour was also fantastic!
Stephanie Ngo, Los Angeles, CA, USA, June 2010.
Dear Zara
Thanks for the great tours we had in Guatemala, everything ran well, our hotels were even better than you said they would be in our opinion. Next stop South America we think, Peru and Bolivia catches our eye. So we will be in touch in 2012.
David Morgan, Sydney, Australia, May 2010.
Thank you Steve. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Jimmy Antony was great at keeping everything running smoothly. He was friendly and patient with our special requirements having two children.
I will definitely consider other travel destinations in the future.
Alex Herrera and Family, Washington DC, USA, May 2010.
Dear Escaped to Latin America,
The service provided by Jimmy was excellent. The tour guides for the Cusco city tour and Machu Picchu were excellent. One suggestion is to ask customers their evening preference and suggest restaurants and bars based on it.
But one more time the service has been excellent so far.
Mr and Mrs Shah, New York, USA, May 2010.

Hi Zara,
We are truly enjoying every bit of the trip. Both Karen and I feel it has been a wonderful adventure and we will certainly pass your company´s name to any of our friends who may want to come here. The hotels have been great, especially the ones in Ica and Cusco. We have just a few more days left and of course it is the very part that has attracted us to come in the first place so we are sure to enjoy it.
Thanks again for such a beautiful experience.

Karen Kost, Alberta, Canada, May 2010.
Hi Steve,
Osnat and I are back on USA soil. Wanted to thank you for a fabulous trip that went without a glitch. All the hotels and guides (especially Raul who took us to the Sacred Valley) were amazing, and fulfilled our expectations and then some.
All the best, and hope to work with you again. We already recommended you
along the way.
Kind regards,

As we are living in Brazil we will visit more of the continent with your company: parts of Brazil, the Galapagos Islands, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela all interest us. We are really happy that we found you in order to plan our trip. It was exhausting sometimes but really worth it!
Ms Von Schaafhausen and party, Germany / Brazil, May 2010.
Dear Mr Mellor
Thank you very much for your kind and prompt response. This trip has been
one of the best holidays I'd ever had thus far -- Peru is just incredibly
rich in culture and history, and its people genuinely hospitable. My
itinerary has been arranged and carried out definitively well -- I surely
will look into going on the other trips you have on your website,
particularly the one to Patagonia, and recommend your company to friends
back in the US as well.
Later update from this passenger.....
Galapagos is awesome, Red Mangrove is fantastic, the service has been outstanding!
The past 2 weeks have now definitely been the best vacation i´d ever
had.
Thank you for helping make it happen -- you just found a client for the
long haul.
Rich Estacio, California,

Hello Steve

Wonderful trip.

Till next time

Buenos Dias
With the problems of Machu Picchu being closed during our tour we were worried we wouldnt enjoy it as much, but we had a great time! The tour through the Sacred Valley and up to Maras and Moray was great. Pisaq ruins are spectacular and it just shows that there is more to Peru than Machu Picchu. Well done with the changes and we will be back to see the other sites in a few years I am sure.
Paul Belson, England, March 2010.
Hi Zara
Your company handled the changes around the visit to Machu Picchu well - we were satisfied with the alternatives. At every rendezvous we had some anxiety that we really would be met, but we always were. Good planning!
Eugene Giroux , Canada, March 2010.
Hello Zara,
We just got back last night, and wanted to thank you for everything. Everything was perfectly organized...and we didn't have any issues...even the weather was on our side.
